You Can Now Play DOOM in Persona 5 Royal, Because Why Not?

DOOM continues to be modded into everything, as fans were able to bring this legendary shooter into Persona 5 Royal of all things. This Atlus JRPG is massive enough without needing to play this legendary FPS, but we do appreciate a good meme that keeps working.

Created by KingJack and Xan1242 (via Faz), these two modders were able to bring the iconic FPS game into a similarly iconic JRPG. While the mod isn’t available to the public yet, this should be available to PC gamers fairly soon, so fans interested in this won’t have to wait too long.

Once the DOOM mod has been downloaded, players merely have to boot up Persona 5 Royal and buy the FPS through the game’s secondhand shop. It’s only 670 yen, so fans who have been to several dungeons will be able to play this shooter right away.

The only thing we don’t know about this mod is if it takes time, as that’s one of the most important aspects of Persona. While playing the shooter within a completely unrelated JRPG is pretty cool, players can also use that time to call Kawakami or hang out with Sojiro.

Whatever the case, this is yet more proof that anything with a screen should be able to play DOOM, which is simply incredible to witness. It’s incredible to see a whole game ported into another, especially since this is a hundred-hour RPG that has plenty of mini-games already.

Believe it or not, this isn’t even the most impressive use of DOOM in something that has a screen. Prior to this, there were reports that fans were able to make the shooter playable in programmable keychains, of all things. Someone was even able to make this classic title playable on a lawnmower, meaning you can play the game while doing some chores.

Fans that want to play the first DOOM in actual gaming hardware can pick it up on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Persona 5 Royal is also readily available on all of those consoles, although the PC port is the only one that can play DOOM.
