Animal Well is a horrifyingly amazing Metroidvania experience where the players are put into a confrontational cave filled with mystery and no instructions. With the appearance of creepy monsters in the corners and the hidden objects behind the old ruins, this game throws you in the center of the action and leaves you to uncover the game’s mysteries on your own. One such mystery is the Animal Well candle locations.
Among the mysterious riddles embedded within the ruins, figuring out where scattered candles are located is one of the most exciting challenges. These candles do not merely ward off the monsters, they also light up secret passageways that lead into a post-game section.
However, not all candles are simple to find. While some are easy to locate, others need a trained eye and a bright mind to discover them. But don't worry, as this guide is here to provide you with the precise locations of all Animal Well candles.
What are Candles in Animal Well?
In Animal Well, candles are essential for exploring the dark cave and scaring away your supernatural enemies. Lighting all nine candles will lead to unlocking a unique post-game area, accessed by heading to the small hidden room to the left of the starting location.
While there are nine different Candles hidden, keep in mind that you will also need to locate the matches to light them.
All Candle Locations Explained
Animal Well divides its map into four separate areas, each representing different animal themes and color-coded accordingly: pink, green, dark blue, and light blue.
Starting Area Candles
The first candle can be found just two rooms to the right of the starting area's Save Point phone. Head to the room above using the ladder, then go left to drop into the area where you can easily find the candle.
Northeastern Area Candles
In the northeastern green area of Animal Well, you will find one candle. Head back to the room and use the B. wand to access the candle positioned at the room's center.
Northwestern Area Candles
In the pink area situated in the northwest, you'll encounter five candles at the following locations:
- In the top-right of a dark, maze-like area shortly after obtaining the Disc.
- Inside a room near the entrance, where a switch is located, and the candle is locked away in the center. However, you'll need to return to the Remote item to reach it.
- Within a small maze accessed by tossing your Disc between the two switches, on the right side of the area.
- Tucked away in the bottom left corner of a room under the bat room filled with multiple switches that you must use to access the candle.
- Positioned within the room where you encounter the giant bat.
Southeastern Area Candles
In the southeastern quadrant, you'll find one candle. It's positioned in the center of a room with four different exits, each leading to the next area. This room is located east of the Save Point.
Southwestern Area Candles
In the southwestern area of the map, you'll discover it in the room housing two penguins. Simply climb up to the top right to locate this candle.
